How much do you think building a green house will cost 10 years from now, in comparison to the prices now?

Question by Ride Like The Wind: How much do you think building a green house will cost 10 years from now, in comparison to the prices now?
Currently, most green building materials are pretty expensive, at least in the US.
Say that it’d cost around $ 300,000-$ 400,000 to build a 3,000 square foot completely green house now.
How much would it cost 10 years from now?
What green materials do you think will be mass produced?

It’s hard to say – but since green is becoming more and more mainstream – and manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon to produce goods…..it may be less expensive than even now – with materials prices going so high.

You might be amazed to find that energy efficient home design (see:)

and other features such as insulated concrete forms:

can actually be affordable now as well as saving you bunches of money each and every month on your electric bill!

I encourage anyone interested to dream and plan that dream green home – now, while there is time to research and investigate – and then build it when it’s right for you!

Hope this helps.

Who will win the HGTV Green Home Giveaway? I think I will feel sorry for that person/s.?

Question by niksag_3000: Who will win the HGTV Green Home Giveaway? I think I will feel sorry for that person/s.?
THe Green House Giveaway is like a dream come true for most people, but in such hard times and so many people are looking for jobs. What do you think will happen to this winning couple?

Its going to be great at the beginning, but later on there are some things to worry about – paying the taxes and maintaining it. And to top it off, its going to be really hard to sell this house if they decide they can’t keep it. I only hope the winning couple can afford to live in such a wonderful home and not face bankruptcy at the end because they are trying to sell one home and maintain the other.

Good Luck to the winner!

People make fun of Port St. Lucie (where the house is) all the time, I’ve never been there. What’s up with that?
